Blog 3. Anthropology/Archaeology
Hi everyone.
Today I will tell you about my profession, which is Anthropology. The best thing about this profession is that it studies the different dimensions of human beings, because it has three divisions or specialties:
1) Archaeology, the science that studies prehistoric and current societies, through its material and symbolic culture.
2) Social anthropology analyzes cultural diversity; it works with living populations and uses the ethnographic method.
3) Physical anthropology researches
the biological variability of living and dead human populations, also includes
the analysis of non-human primates.
But not everything is positive, those who work with life and death require mental strength not to feel depressed. Mainly when we interact with people who lost their loved ones in cases of human rights violations, catastrophes, indigenous revindications and more.
Finally, I decided on Bioarchaeology, which is the union between archaeology and physical anthropology. When I was a child, I had the opportunity to meet anthropologists who worked in the Concepción cemetery in cases related to Chile’s military dictatorship. For this reason, I knew immediately that I wanted to become an anthropologist.

Anthropology seems like a very interesting discipline! Also, I didn't know too much about physical anthropology, thanks for sharing with us.
ResponderEliminarI thinks that anthropology is such an interesting career, learning about cultures, the human being evolution, the different societies, are topics that i like. For the other hand, the kind of work that you says sounds very shocking, but very important too, because all the families that still search for the body of their loved ones that the dictatorship killed, they are still searching for justice. Appreciate your blog.
